About Us
The Boulder Rifle Club supported the founding of Beauty & The Bullet to help women build their pistol shooting skills on the range. The goal was to encourage women to develop their confidence and knowledge in a low-pressure, all-female-run practice.
Since its inception, Beauty & The Bullet has grown to over 200 collective members. Our mission is to instruct, educate, and encourage other women to improve their proficiency with a pistol while staying safe and having fun.
Meet the Range Officers
Range Officers (ROs) are the people directly responsible for the safe conduct of firing on the range during practice. At every Beauty & The Bullet practice, the primary focus of the RO(s) is SAFETY. Without a safe environment, our club cannot function.
Katy Fassett
Katy is a University of Colorado graduate, has lived in Boulder for 30 years, and is married with a college age daughter. She is a certified NRA Pistol Instructor and has been involved in the Boulder Rifle Club’s women’s program since 2013. She enjoys hunting big game and birds, competitive pistol shooting, CrossFit, and mountain biking. “Being part of a program that provides a safe, fun environment for women to enjoy the sport of pistol shooting is a huge source of pleasure for me."
Lauren Horner
Lauren was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and moved to Colorado to study design at UNC. Lauren’s husband first introduced her to guns and competition shooting in 2011. Since then, she’s competed in competitions across the world winning local, national, and international awards. Lauren is a proud mom who enjoys cycling, reading and watching cooking competitions.
Carol Demos
Carol lives in the foothills west of Boulder with her husband of 37 years and enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, hunting and shooting sports. She attended the Women’s shoot for several years and obtained her NRA Pistol Instructor certification in 2022. Carol loves seeing the promotion of all shooting sports and very excited to be part of the Women’s program. She also enjoys sewing, crocheting, the Colorado Avalanche, and spending time with her husband, dog and cat.
